Installation Procedure

  1. Install the starting motor through the front area of the engine compartment between the generator and the inner fender.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
    3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the mounting bolts (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the starter motor mounting bolts to 11 N.m (22 lb ft).

  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Connect the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. Secure with the nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the starter solenoid nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the starter solenoid electrical connector.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

    Tighten:  Tighten the negative battery cable-to-negative battery terminal retainer to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
