Removal Procedure
If replacing a functional cupholder, perform the following:
- Push on the cupholder to open.
- Remove the cupholder faceplate.
- Insert both tools J 45999 until the scribe lines are no longer visible. See Special Tools and Equipment .
- Insert one of the tools J 45999 in the top opening with the handle pointing up between the cupholder and the instrument panel (I/P) trim to release the upper plastic retaining tabs. See Special Tools and Equipment .
- Insert the other tool J 45999 in the bottom opening with the handle pointing down between the cupholder and the I/P to release the lower plastic retaining tabs. See Special Tools and Equipment .
- With both tools J 45999 still in place, pull the cupholder to remove from the I/P trim. See Special Tools and Equipment .
NOTE:
Use only J-45999 when removing the cupholder or the coinholder. Using any other tool will result in damage to the right knee bolster trim.
If replacing a non-functioning cupholder, perform the following:
- Using a flat-bladed plastic tool, remove the coin holder faceplate.
- Insert both tools J 45999 until the scribe lines are no longer visible. See Special Tools and Equipment .
- Insert one of the tools J 45999 in the top opening with the handle pointing up between the cupholder and the instrument panel (I/P) trim to release the upper plastic retaining tabs. See Special Tools and Equipment .
- Insert the other tool J 45999 in the bottom opening with the handle pointing down between the cupholder and the I/P trim to release the lower plastic retaining tabs. See Special Tools and Equipment .
- Using a flat-bladed plastic tool, remove the cupholder from the I/P trim.
