Fuel Tank Draining Procedure

Tools Required

CAUTION: Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.
CAUTION: Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury.
  1. Remove the fuel filler cap.

  3. Install the J 42960-2  into the fuel fill pipe in order to hold the door open.
  4. IMPORTANT: Lubricate the fuel drain hose with J 36850  or equivalent to aid in hose insertion. See Special Tools and Equipment . Do not use an unapproved lubricant.
  5. Insert the J 45004  into the fuel tank until the hose reaches the bottom of the fuel tank.
  6. Use an hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel fill pipe as possible.
