Removal Procedure

    IMPORTANT: When replacing battery cables be sure to use replacement cables that are the same type, gage and length.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
  2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  3. Remove the ground wire bolt and the ground wire from the frame.

  5. Remove the remote positive stud cover

  7. Remove the positive cable junction block lead nut (1).
  8. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the underhood accessory wiring junction block.

  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  11. Remove the front lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle and Deflector Replacement - Lower in Engine Cooling.
  12. Remove the transaxle stud nut and the ground wire from the transaxle stud.
  13. Remove the positive battery cable nut (8) from the starter motor BAT terminal.
  14. Remove the positive battery cable (9) from the starter motor BAT terminal.

  16. Unclip and remove the battery cable harness from the retainers (2,3,4).

  18. Remove the battery cable harness from the vehicle.
  19. Remove the negative battery cable from the wiring harness conduit.
