Transmitter Programming Procedure

  1. Acquire the 6-digit security code from the General Motors Technical Assistance Center. You will need the vehicle identification number and customer information.
  2. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  3. Turn ON the scan tool.
  4. From the MAIN MENU screen, select DIAGNOSTICS.
  5. From the MODEL YEAR screen, select the appropriate model year of the specific vehicle.
  6. From the VEHICLE TYPE screen, select the specific vehicle model.
  7. From the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU screen, select BODY.
  8. From the BODY SELECTION MENU screen, select CODING.
  9. From the CODING SYSTEM screen, select CODING.
  10. From the SECRET NUMBER OF CODINGS screen, enter 4 Zeros (0-0-0-0) in the 4 boxes labeled 1-2-3-4.
  11. From the CODING SYSTEM SELECT screen, select IMMOBILIZER.
  12. IMPORTANT: A slight delay may occur and PLEASE WAIT may be displayed before the next screen appears.
  13. From the FUNCTION SELECTION screen, select KEY CODING.
  14. From the IMMOBILIZER KEY CODING screen, enter the 6 digit security code in the 6 boxes labeled 00-00-00.
  15. Continue programming immobilizer key coding when directed by the scan tool until all immobilizer key coding has been performed.
  16. IMPORTANT: A maximum of 4 transponders may be programmed to a vehicle.
    IMPORTANT: If the transponder is programmed, the remote keyless entry is also programmed automatically.
  17. One all transponders have been programmed, press the ESC button on the keypad. The display will confirm the number of transponders programmed.
  18. Turn the scan tool OFF, and then disconnect if from the DLC.
