Draining & Refilling

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove transfer case skid plate in order to gain access to transfer case drain plug. An access opening in transfer case skid plate has been provided for transfer case oil drainage.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Place a drain pan or suitable container under transfer case. Remove fill plug (1) from bottom of transfer case. See Fig 1 . Remove drain plug (2) from bottom of transfer case. Allow fluid to drain.
  2. Reinstall drain plug. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Fill to specification with appropriate fluid type. See RECOMMENDED FLUIDS  . Ensure fluid is level with bottom edge of fill plug hole. Reinstall fill plug. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Lower vehicle.
