Removal Procedure
CAUTION:
Refer to GM VEHICLES CAUTIONS & NOTICES
in Cautions and Notices.
Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- Disconnect the washer hose from the liftgate.
- Remove the back window wiper arm from the liftgate. Refer to WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT - REAR in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Open liftgate window.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear window defogger on the liftgate window.

CAUTION: Refer to DEFROSTER OUTLET CAUTION in Cautions and Notices. - Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
- 5.1. Upper dash pad
- 5.2. Defroster outlets and A/C outlets
- 5.3. Seats and carpeting
Important: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.
- This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
- Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
- The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
- Use J 24402-A, J 39032 or equivalent in order to remove the window.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate window from the liftgate frame.
