Removal Procedure

NOTE: Tools Required 
  • J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRES AND WHEELS article.
  3. Support the lower control arm with a suitable jack.
  4. Remove the automatic level control air tube from the shock absorber.
  5. Remove the shock absorber lower retaining bolts. See Figure.
  6. Remove the adjustment link retaining nut.
  7. Using J 24319-B separate the adjustment link from the lower control arm. See Figure.
  8. Slowly lower the lower control arm until it bottoms on the rear support.
  9. Using a pry bar, pry under the coil spring lower insulator and remove the coil spring with the insulator. See Fig 1.
  10. Remove the upper insulator by pulling downward.
