Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Cadillac Seville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the adjustment link to the rear support. See Figure.
NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the cam bolt, washer and nut. Tighten the cam nut to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
  3. Install the adjustment link to the lower control arm.
  4. Install the adjustment link retaining nut. Tighten the adjustment link retaining nut to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
  5. Raise the rear support and exhaust system.
  6. Install the rear support mounting bolts. See Figure. Tighten the rear support mounting bolts to 191 N.m (141 lb ft).
  7. Install the exhaust hangers. See Figure.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Check rear toe adjustment. Refer to REAR TOE ADJUSTMENT in SPECIFICATIONS article.
