Power Steering Fluid Leaks

  1. Did you review the Power Steering System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If no, see VISUAL/PHYSICAL INSPECTION  .
  2. Verify that power steering fluid leaks are present. Is the power steering system leaking? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  3. Inspect the power steering system fittings. Are the fittings leaking? If yes, go to step  8 . If no, go to next step.
  4. Inspect the power steering hoses. Are the hoses leaking? If yes, go to step  9 . If no, go to next step.
  5. Inspect the power steering fluid reservoir for leaks. Is the reservoir leaking? If yes, go to step  10 . If no, go to next step.
  6. Inspect the power steering pump for leaks. Is the power steering pump leaking? If yes, go to step  11 . If no, go to next step.
  7. Inspect the power steering gear for leaks. Is the power steering gear leaking? If yes, go to step  12 . If no, go to next step.
  8. Replace the hose clamps, if necessary. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to step  13 .
  9. Replace the power steering hoses. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to step  13 .
  10. Replace the power steering fluid reservoir. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to step  13 .
  11. Replace the power steering pump. See POWER STEERING PUMP  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to step  13 .
  12. Replace the power steering gear. See POWER STEERING GEAR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to next step.
  13. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
