Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform diagnostic system check - engine controls. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Install a scan tool. Check for any other DTCs. Repair any other DTCs first. Are there any other DTCs set? If yes, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no, go to next step.
- Check for any objects blocking MAF sensor inlet, any intake manifold vacuum leaks, any throttle body vacuum leaks, or a faulty, missing, or incorrectly installed PCV valve. Repair as necessary. Was a repair necessary? If yes, go to step 7 . If no, go to next step.
- Turn ON ignition, with engine OFF. Place the control module into Check Mode using the scan tool. Operate the vehicle within the Freeze Frame conditions. Is the DTC P0101 set? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Check for poor connections in the MAF sensor circuits. Inspect for high resistance in the MAF sensor electrical circuits. Inspect for at least 11 volts on the ignition positive voltage circuit. Repair as necessary. Was a repair necessary? If yes, go to step 7 . If no, go to next step.
- Replace MAF sensor. After replacing sensor, go to next step.
- Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds. Start the engine. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. See CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING DTC . Does the DTC run and pass? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 2 .
- With a scan tool, observe the stored information, Capture Info. Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? If yes, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no, system is okay.
