Removal & Installation: Starter: Installation
- Install the starter motor to the vehicle. See Figure . Install the lower mounting bolt finger tight.
- Lower the vehicle. DO NOT remove from hoist.NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. DO NOT use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the upper mounting bolt. Tighten the upper mounting bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Raise the vehicle. Tighten the lower mounting bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the starter motor electrical connector.
- Install the positive battery cable and the retaining nut to the starter solenoid. Tighten the retaining nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the right side splash shield. Secure with the 6 bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle. Connect the negative (-) battery cable. Tighten the negative battery cable to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
