Removal Procedure

Important:  Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.

  1. Open the door.
  2. Gently pry loose and remove the windshield inside garnish moldings (1) from the vehicle.

  4. Remove the rearview mirror. Refer to Rearview Mirror Replacement .
    CAUTION: If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, It can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.
  5. Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
    1. 4.1. Upper dash pad.
    2. 4.2. Defroster outlets and A/C outlets.
    3. 4.3. Seats and carpeting.
  6. Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to AIR INLET GRILLE PANEL REPLACEMENT .
    CAUTION: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

    Important:  The windshield reveal molding fills the cavities between the body and windshield.

  7. If the windshield reveal molding is stretched or damaged it cannot be reused.

    The windshield reveal molding is a one-piece molding.

  8. Remove the windshield reveal molding.

    Grasp the lower corner of the windshield reveal molding by hand and slowly pull the reveal molding away from the windshield.

  9. If the windshield reveal molding will not release, use a utility knife in order to cut around the windshield in order to remove the windshield reveal molding.

    Important:  Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.

  10. This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
    • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
    • Use J 24402-A or J 39032 in order to remove the window.

  11. Remove the bottom of the window from the urethane adhesive using a long utility knife or similar tool. Keep the cutting edge of the utility knife against the glass. Do this from inside the vehicle.

  12. Remove the windshield (1) from the vehicle with the aid of an assistant (2).

    Unclip and remove the windshield glass support spacers from the windshield.
