Park/Neutral Position Switch: Removal

CAUTION: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Remove 6 bolts and the left splash shield from the vehicle.
  2. Remove one nut and lock washer (3) and shift select cable (1) from the manual lever (2). See Figure .
  3. Remove the PNP switch electrical connector (1) from the PNP switch. See Figure . Remove one nut, one lock washer and the manual lever from the manual shaft.
  4. Unstake the lock plate (1) behind the manual shaft nut (3). See Figure .
  5. Remove the manual shaft nut and the lock plate from the PNP switch. Remove the 2 bolts and the PNP switch from the transaxle.
