Case Side Cover: Installation

Install the Transjel(tm) (J 36850) to the case side cover O-ring (59). See Figure . Install the O-ring (59) to the case side cover. Install the case side cover gasket (54).
Install the case side cover (53). Install the case side cover bolts (56, 57, 58). Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove the drain pan from under the transaxle.
Install the transaxle mount bracket. Install the transaxle mount bracket bolts. See TRANSAXLE MOUNT . Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Lower the vehicle.
Using the engine support fixture raise the engine assembly to the original position. Raise the vehicle. Install the left drive axle to the transaxle. See appropriate article in DRIVE AXLES.
Install the frame assembly. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article. Lower the vehicle. Remove the engine support fixture. Install the top 4 case side cover bolts. See Figure . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Connect the transaxle wiring harness connector. Install the engine mount struts that were removed when installing engine support fixture. Install the transaxle shift cable bracket.
Install the transaxle shift cable bracket bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the transaxle shift cable to the shift lever.

CAUTION: Do not overfill the transaxle. Overfilling will result in foaming, loss of fluid, and possible damage to the transaxle.

Install the accelerator cable bracket with the accelerator and cruise control cables. On models with 3.4L engine, install the throttle body air inlet duct. On models with 3.8L engine, install air cleaner assembly. On all models, fill transaxle with appropriate fluid to proper level. See LUBRICATION . Inspect for fluid leaks.
