Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2003 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If replacing the condenser, add refrigerant oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities  for system capacity information.

  3. Install the upper rubber mounts on to the condenser.
  4. Install the lower ends of the condenser in to the lower rubber mounts.
    IMPORTANT: Ensure the upper rubber mounts stay in place on the condenser.
  5. Tilt the top of the condenser in to place.
  6. Install new O-ring seals onto the A/C compressor hose and the condenser tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the liquid line to the condenser.

    Tighten the liquid line nut to the condenser.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  10. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
  11. Install the A/C compressor hose block fitting nut to the condenser.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  12. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A  . See Special Tools .
