Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check-Engine Controls? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. NOTE: If any other DTCs are also set, diagnose these DTCs first. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with your foot off the accelerator pedal and the engine OFF. With the scan tool, observe the APP sensor voltage parameter for this APP. Does the scan tool indicate voltage is 0.7-1.1 V? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  5.
  4. Fully depress the accelerator pedal. Does the scan tool indicate the voltage is 2.7-4.2 V? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  5.
  5. With the scan tool, observe the DTC Info. Depress the accelerator pedal to Wide Open Throttle (WOT), and then return the pedal to closed throttle. Did this DTC fail this ignition cycle? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  6. Replace the TAC module. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Clear the DTCs with a scan tool. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds. Start the engine. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running DTC. Does the DTC run and pass? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  2.
  8. Observe the stored information, Capture Info with a scan tool. Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? If yes, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no, system is okay.
