Control Arm Bushing: Installation

  1. Align the flat edge of the bushing with the mark on the control arm in order to install the bushing at a 45-degree angle. See Fig 1 .
  2. Using Rear Suspension Bushing Remover/Installer (J 28685) and Ball Joint Remover/Installer (J 9519-E), install the control arm bushing. See Fig 2 .
  3. NOTE: The bushing must extend 0.39" (9.8 mm) from the control arm. See Fig 3 .
  4. The bushing is installed to the proper depth when the end of the bushing is aligned with the indicator line on the Rear Suspension Bushing Remover/Installer (J 28685).
  5. Use the utility stand in order to raise the rear axle.
  6. Install the control arm bolt to the rear axle.
  7. Remove the utility stand.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
