Test B: Memory Seat Feature Inoperative

  1. If power seat system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seat system diagnostic system check has not be performed, perform POWER SEAT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Attempt to operate all memory seat adjustments through all ranges. If all memory seat functions do not operate properly, go to next step. If all memory seat functions operate properly, problem may be intermittent. Check for intermittent and poor connections. Repair as necessary. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  3. Disconnect seat adjuster switch Black 10-pin harness connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between seat adjuster switch harness connector terminal "A" (Orange wire) and inoperative switch signal circuit terminal. See ADJUSTER MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION  table. See Figure. If inoperative adjuster motor does not operate, go to next step. If inoperative adjuster motor operates, go to step  5.
  4. Check for high resistance or open in Orange wire between seat adjuster switch terminal "A" and Memory Seat Module (MSM) harness connector C2 terminal B5. See Fig 1. Check for high resistance or open in inoperative switch signal circuit between seat adjuster switch and MSM. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  7.
  5. Replace seat adjuster switch. After repair, go to step  7.
  6. Replace MSM. After repair, go to next step.
  7. Operate system to verify fault no longer exists. If fault still exists, go to step  3.
