Cruise Control Main Switch Indicator Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Verify cruise control system operates normally and cruise control main switch indicator does not illuminate when switch is depressed. If cruise control main switch indicator does not operate normally, go to next step. If cruise control main switch indicator operates normally, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENT SIMULATION
under DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect the cruise control servo 12-pin harness connector. Using a fused jumper wire (5-amp), connect cruise control servo harness connector terminal No. 10 (Green/White wire) to ground. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If cruise control main switch indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If cruise control main switch indicator illuminates, go to step 4
.
- Disconnect cruise control main switch 6-pin harness connector. Check continuity in Green/White wire between cruise control servo harness connector terminal No. 10 and cruise control main switch harness connector terminal No. 1. See Figure
and Fig 1
. If continuity exists, go to step 5
. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Green/White wire between cruise control servo and cruise control main switch then retest system.
- Check system for intermittent problem. See INTERMITTENT SIMULATION
under DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS. If problem still exists, go to step 6
. If problem is located, repair as necessary and retest system.
- Check system for intermittent problem. See INTERMITTENT SIMULATION
under DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS. If problem still exists, go to step 7
. If problem is located, repair as necessary and retest system.
- Replace cruise control servo and retest system. See CRUISE CONTROL SERVO
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Replace cruise control main switch and retest system. See CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
