System Self-Test (Initialization)
- During first part of initialization, EBCM will verify operation of EBCR and indicator lights. EBCM then checks circuitry of wheel speed sensors, and looks for open circuits and shorts. If any malfunctions are found, EBCM stores code in memory and illuminates ABS indicator.
- The second part of this process starts when vehicle reaches 3 MPH. EBCM will verify operation of motor, hydraulic modulator and solenoids by using specific control schemes to verify all components are functioning properly. A slight mechanical noise may be heard during system initialization, which is normal. If foot is on brake pedal during process, a slight movement in brake pedal may be felt.
