Anti-Lock Brake Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, right of steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to communicate with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). If scan tool communicates with EBCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with EBCM, perform TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select ABS DISPLAY DTCs function on scan tool. If DTCs exist, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTCs retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If DTCs do not exist, diagnose ABS system by symptom. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
