Set/Coast Switch

SET/COAST switch is activated when cruise control switch is moved downward into SET/COAST position. When cruise control switch is moved downward into SET/COAST position and released, cruise speed will be set at speed at which vehicle was traveling when switch was activated. In order for this switch to operate, however, cruise on-off switch button must have been pressed, CRUISE control indicator must be lit, and vehicle speed must be over 25 MPH. SET/COAST switch can also be used to decrease cruise speed. By moving cruise control switch downward into SET/COAST position and holding it there, cruise control system will disengage and allow throttle to return to idle position. When new, lower cruise speed has been reached, cruise control switch is released from SET/COAST position. Once released, cruise control system will re-engage and maintain new desired cruise speed. SET/COAST switch can also be used to tap-down vehicle speed. In order to do this, cruise control system must be engaged and operating. Tapping-down is performed by quickly moving cruise control switch down into SET/COAST position and releasing it (or tapping switch into SET/COAST position). Do not hold cruise control switch in SET/Coast position, or cruise control system will enter coast mode. Tap-down is a function in which cruise speed can be decreased by one MPH increments (one tap = one MPH decrease). Accelerator may be pressed at any time to override cruise control system operation. Release of accelerator will return vehicle to previously set cruise speed.
