Air Bag System Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, right of steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to communicate with Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). If scan tool communicates with SDM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with SDM, perform TEST D: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select SIR DISPLAY DTCs function on scan tool. If DTCs exist, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If DTCs do not exist, diagnose SIR system by symptom.
