Theft Deterrent System
NOTE:
BCM must be programmed with proper RPO configurations before performing learn procedures. See BODY CONTROL MODULE
.
NOTE:
If replacing BCM with a GM Service Parts Operations (SPO) replacement part, module will learn PASS-Key(R) data code immediately. Existing PCM however, must learn new fuel continue password when BCM is replaced.
NOTE:
If replacing a PCM with a GM SPO replacement part, after programming, these modules will learn incoming fuel continue password immediately upon receipt of a password message. Once a password message is received, and a password is learned, a learn procedure must be performed to change this password again. A PCM which has been previously installed in another vehicle will have learned the other vehicle's fuel continue password and will require a learn procedure after programming to learn the current vehicle's password.
- Turn ignition on. Attempt to start engine, then release key to ON position (vehicle will not start).
- Observe SECURITY indicator. After about 10 minutes, SECURITY indicator will turn off. Turn ignition off. Wait 5 seconds.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 two more times for a total of 3 cycles (30 minutes).
- Vehicle is now ready to relearn password on next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK position.
- Start engine (vehicle has now learned the password). Using scan tool, clear any DTCs (history DTCs will automatically clear after 100 ignition cycles).
