Theft Deterrent System Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC located under steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition on, engine off. Attempt to establish communication with Body Control Module (BCM), Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Driver Door Module (DDM) and Passenger Door Module (PDM). If scan tool communicates with these modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with these modules, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select control module display DTCs function on scan tool for BCM, PCM, DDM and PCM. If scan tool displays DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DTCs, go to ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - CORVETTE article and diagnose by symptom.
  4. Check for communication DTCs. These DTCs will begin with "U". If no "U" DTCs exist, go to next step. If any "U" DTC exists, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  5. If scan tool displays DTCs P0601, P0602, P0604 or P0606, go to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If these DTCs are not set, go to next step.
  6. If scan tool displays DTC B0605 or B1000, go to DTC B0605: BCM INTERNAL MEMORY MALFUNCTION  or DTC B1000: ECU MALFUNCTION  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If scan tool does not display DTCs B0605 or B1000, check if scan tool displays DTCs B2282-B2285, P0562, P0563, P1637 or P1638. If these DTCs are displayed, see GENERATORS & REGULATORS - CORVETTE article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If these DTCs are not displayed, diagnose charging system or RKE by symptom.
