Defogger Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC located under steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communication with BCM and PCM. If scan tool communicates both modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with both modules, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select display DTCs function for each module. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair system by symptom. See REAR WINDOW & MIRROR DEFOGGERS - CORVETTE article.
  4. Check for communication DTCs. These DTCs will begin with "U". If no "U" DTCs exist, go to next step. If any "U" DTC exists, go to TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  5. If DTC B0605 or B1000 is displayed, go to DTC B0605: BCM INTERNAL MEMORY MALFUNCTION  or DTC B1000: ECU MALFUNCTION  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If DTCs are not set, go to next step.
  6. If any DTCs are displayed beginning with "P", see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no DTC are displayed, diagnose defogger by symptom. See REAR WINDOW & MIRROR DEFOGGERS - CORVETTE article.
