Test D: Lockout Feature Inoperative

  1. If door system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to DOOR SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Verify that power door locks lockout feature is inoperative. If lockout feature does not operate normally, go to next step. If lockout feature operates normally, perform test procedure while wiggling related wiring and harness connectors. This can often cause intermittent fault to appear.
  3. If power door locks are not inoperative, go to next step. If power door locks are inoperative, go to SYMPTOM INDEX  .
  4. Close all doors. Open and close each door while observing courtesy lights. If courtesy lights illuminate for each door, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not illuminate for each door, repair courtesy light concern. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  5. Insert ignition key fully into ignition cylinder. Open driver door. If chime activates, go to next step. If chime does not activate, repair chime concern. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
  6. Replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Program BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE PROGRAMMING/REGULAR PRODUCTION OPTION CONFIGURATION  under PROGRAMMING. After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Operate system in order to verify repair. If system operates normally, system is okay. If system does not operate normally, go to step  3 .
