Test A: Panic Mode Inoperative
- If remote keyless entry system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- With keyless entry transmitter attempt to operate panic function. Horns, park lamps, and headlights should pulse on and off. If on and off pulse was observed, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS . If on and off pulse was not observed, go to next step.
- If any panic functions operated, go to next step. If no panic functions operated. Go to step TEST B: KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM INOPERATIVE .
- If headlights flashed, go to next step. If headlights did not flash, repair anti-theft system. See appropriate ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS article.
- If parking lamps flashed, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article for horn diagnostic procedure. If parking lamps did not flashed, see appropriate EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
NOTE:
Inspect keyless entry transmitter to ensure it is correct model for this vehicle. A wrong model transmitter may pass this test, but will not activate vehicle remote system.
