Strut Assembly: Removal
- Remove upper strut-to-body mount nuts. Raise and support vehicle. Place jackstands under frame. Lower vehicle slightly so that weight of vehicle rests on jackstands and not on control arms. Remove front wheel assemblies. Install Inner Drive Joint Seal Protector (J-34754 - modified) on drive axle joints.
- Remove brakeline bracket from strut. Scribe strut-to-mounting bracket outline on steering knuckle for reassembly reference. Remove lower strut-to-steering knuckle bolts and remove strut assembly from vehicle. DO NOT chip or scratch coil spring coating. Support steering knuckle/hub and bearing assembly to prevent overextending drive axle joints.
CAUTION:
Support steering knuckle/hub and bearing assembly during strut removal to prevent tension from being applied to brake hose. Do not overextend drive axle joints.
