Test 6: Security Indicator Light Inoperative
- Check BCM input/output. See CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If SECURITY indicator light turns on when BCM performs test No. 6, go to step 7 . If SECURITY indicator light does not turn on when BCM performs test No. 6, go to next step.
- Disconnect SECURITY indicator light connector. Connect a test light between SECURITY indicator light connector terminal "B" and ground. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, repair open or poor connection in Orange wire between SECURITY indicator light connector terminal "B" and underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C2, terminal F7. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using DVOM on DIODE scale, connect Red (+) lead to SECURITY indicator light terminal "B" and Black (-) lead to terminal "A". If SECURITY indicator light is on, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator light is off, replace SECURITY indicator light bulb. See SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect BCM connector C2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between BCM harness connector C2, terminal D15 and ground. See Figure . If voltage is less than 2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than 2 volts, repair short to power in Yellow wire between BCM connector C2, terminal D15 and SECURITY indicator light connector terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM harness connector C2, terminal D15 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, repair short to ground in Yellow wire between BCM connector C2, terminal D15 and SECURITY indicator light connector terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between BCM harness connector C2, terminal D15 and SECURITY indicator light connector terminal "A". See Figure . If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 2 ohms, repair open or poor connection in Yellow wire between BCM connector C2, terminal D15 and SECURITY indicator light connector terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Check CTD system operation. See CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If SECURITY indicator light operation is okay, problem is intermittent. If SECURITY indicator light operation is not okay, go to next step.
- Inspect BCM connector C2 for poor connections. Repair as necessary. If connections are okay, replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
