Preliminary Inspection
Before proceeding with any electrical trouble shooting, perform a mechanical inspection first. Some major items to include are:
- Ensure both ends of cruise control cable are connected to actuator and accelerator pedal assembly.
- Ensure cruise control servo cable and accelerator pedal move freely and do not bind.
- Check cruise control servo for bare, broken, or disconnected wires or connectors.
- Check FI fuse (15-amp), located in fuse block in right side of engine compartment.
- Check STOP fuse (15-amp), located in fuse block behind left kick panel.
- Ensure ground connections are clean and tight.
- Repair any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) before trouble shooting cruise control system.
- Ensure speedometer and Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) are operating properly.
- Check cruise control indicator bulb for open or shorted filament.
If no obvious problems are found during inspection, proceed to SYSTEM TESTS .
