Charge Indicator Light Always On

  1. Perform charging system check. See CHARGING SYSTEM TEST . Go to next step.
  2. Disconnect generator connector. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to step  4.
  3. Repair or replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module connector, located behind instrument panel, to right of steering column. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to step  6.
  5. Replace DRL module. Recheck system.
  6. Check for short to ground on White/Red wire between instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 4 and generator connector terminal No. 1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If short to ground exists, go to next step. If short to ground does not exist, go to step  8.
  7. Repair short to ground on White/Red wire between instrument cluster and generator. Recheck system.
  8. Repair or replace instrument cluster printed circuit. Recheck system.
