NOTE: This article applies to "Old Style" "C" & "K" Series vehicles equipped with 5.7L, 6.5L and 7.4L engines. This includes the Tahoe Limited and Tahoe Z71. WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - WITH SIDE AIR BAG or AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - WITHOUT SIDE AIR article in RESTRAINTS.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. The Data Link Connector (DLC) is used as an access point for different vehicle diagnostic and programming functions involving the use of a scan tool.
