Lock-Out Prevention

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2000 GMC Yukon, 2000 GMC Pickup, 2000 GMC Cab & Chassis, 2000 GMC C3500 HD, and 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Lock-out prevention will not allow doors to lock with key in ignition and a door open. To turn this feature on and off, perform following:

  1. Put key in ignition. Turn ignition on, and then off to disarm alarm system.
  2. Remove RADIO fuse No. 17. Turn ignition switch to ACCESSORY position. Chime should sound twice to verify programming mode.
  3. Press LOCK switch on door. Number of chimes heard indicates current mode. Press LOCK switch on door again to change modes. See LOCK-OUT PREVENTION MODES  table.
  4. To exit programming mode, turn ignition off and reinstall RADIO fuse No. 17.
