Steering Column: Notes

CAUTION: Steering column is easily damaged once it has been removed from vehicle. If steering column is dropped on its end or hit with a hammer, steering shaft may collapse or plastic injections may be loosened. Applying side pressure to or leaning on steering column could cause it to bend and/or deform. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position during removal. Damage to clockspring will occur if steering wheel is over-rotated.
WARNING: Disable SRS before attempting steering column service. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
