DTC B1379: Ignition 3 Fault: Testing
- If Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located to left of steering column. Turn ignition on. Select BCM data inputs list. If IGNITION 3 INPUT is not active, go to next step. If IGNITION 3 INPUT is active, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Check CRUISE fuse (10-amp) in right instrument panel junction block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 7 .
- Remove CRUISE fuse from right instrument panel junction block. Connect a test light between CRUISE fuse terminal cavities in right instrument panel junction block. Turn ignition on. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Gray 16-pin BCM connector C1. Turn ignition on. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 11 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect cruise control module connector. Turn ignition on. If test light illuminates, go to step 9 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step 13 .
- Remove CRUISE fuse from right instrument panel junction block. Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to ground, check for power at both CRUISE fuse terminal cavities in right instrument panel junction block. If test light illuminates at one terminal, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate at either terminal, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Gray 18-pin right instrument panel junction block connector C1. Using DVOM, check continuity of Brown wire between BCM harness connector C2 terminal B8 and right instrument panel junction block harness connector C1 terminal C4. If continuity exists, go to step 13 . If problem is found, repair open in Pink wire. After repair, go to step 15 .
- Repair short to ground on Brown wire between BCM and right instrument panel junction block. After repairs, go to step 15 .
- Repair open in power feed circuit to CRUISE fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, go to step 15 .
- Check for poor connection at BCM connector C1 terminal B8 (Brown wire). See Figure . If connection is okay, go to next step. If a poor connection exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 15 .
- Check for poor connection at cruise control connector terminal "F" (Brown wire). If connection is okay, go to next step. If a poor connection exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 15 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Program BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to step 15 .
- Replace cruise control module. See CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS - MALIBU article. After repair, go to next step.
- Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Clear DTCs. Perform BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
