Lower Control Arm: Removal

NOTE: Use only recommended tool for separating ball joint from knuckle, or damage to ball joint and seal may occur.
  1. Unlock steering column, and turn front of applicable wheel to most outboard position. Raise and support vehicle, allowing suspension to hang freely. Remove wheel. Disconnect ABS wheel speed sensor connector, and disconnect harness from retainer clips. Remove stabilizer bar link.
  2. Remove cotter pin from ball stud. Loosen ball stud nut. Install Ball Joint/Stud Separator (J-41820), and separate ball stud from knuckle. Remove ball joint separator and ball stud nut. Remove lower control arm nuts and bolts, and remove lower control arm from vehicle.
