Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue, and 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the new coolant crossover gaskets (1).

  2. Install the coolant crossover.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the coolant crossover bolts (1-6).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts in sequence to 25 N.m (18 lb in).

  4. Install the throttle body coolant hose to the coolant crossover.
  5. Install the heater inlet hose to the coolant crossover.
  6. Install the radiator inlet hose to the coolant crossover. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet .
  7. Install the EGR heat shield and the EGR valve. Refer to EGR VALVE in Engine Performance.

  8. Raise the vehicle.
  9. Install the right exhaust manifold to the right cylinder head and the left exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - RIGHT in Engine Exhaust.
  10. If equipped with AIR, install the AIR crossover pipe nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  11. If equipped with AIR, install the AIR crossover pipe bolt (3).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  12. Install the frame assembly. Refer to FRAME REPLACEMENT in Transmission.
  13. Install the EGR inlet pipe to the right exhaust manifold.
  14. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT in Engine Exhaust.
  15. Install the transmission filler tube. Refer to FLUID FILLER TUBE in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65 - E.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Remove the engine support fixture.
  18. If equipped with AIR, install the bank 2 secondary air injection shut-off valve bracket and the valve. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (3.5L -- BANK 2) in Engine Controls - 3.5L.
  19. Install the EGR outlet pipe.

  20. Install the throttle body. Refer to THROTTLE BODY in Engine Performance.
  21. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  22. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Engine Electrical.
  23. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  24. Inspect the exhaust and the cooling systems for leaks.
