Charge Indicator Light Inoperative
NOTE:
On models equipped with dual generators, disconnect both generators.
- Ensure battery is fully charged. Disconnect generator connector. Connect fused jumper wire between harness connector terminal "B" (100-amp and dual generators) or terminal "L" (124-amp generator) and ground. If equipped with dual generators, connect each generator one at a time. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 3 .
- Check generator ground (through case). Clean if needed. If ground is okay, replace generator(s). See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument panel connector. Using a DVOM, check continuity between harness connector terminal "B" (100-amp generator and dual generators) or terminal "L" (124-amp generator) and instrument panel connector terminal B16. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step 5 .
- Check charge indicator light bulb. Replace if needed. Recheck system. If charge indicator light bulb is okay, go to step 6 .
- Repair open in Brown wire between instrument panel and generator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system.
- Using a DVOM, measure voltage between instrument panel connector terminal B17 (Pink wire) and ground with ignition on. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open or poor connection in Pink wire between instrument panel connector and GAUGES fuse in instrument panel fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system.
- Replace instrument cluster. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Recheck system.
