Test C: No Communication With EBTCM
- Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- If scan tool can communicate with other modules on Class 2 serial data line, such as PCM, go to next step. If scan tool cannot communicate with other modules on Class 2 serial data line, such as PCM, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Check ABSTRNS fuse (10-amp) in underhood electrical center. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is not okay, go to step 9 .
- Check ABS/RTD ELEC fuse (20-amp) in underhood electrical center. If fuse is okay, go to step 12 . If fuse is not okay, go to next step.
- Replace ABS/RTD ELEC fuse. Recheck ABS/RTD ELEC fuse. If fuse is okay, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If fuse is not okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove ABS/RTD ELEC fuse. Disconnect EBTCM connector. Connect universal pinout box (J 39700) using cable adapter (J 39700-25) to EBTCM harness connector only. Using DVOM, measure resistance between EBTCM connector terminals "D" and "B". If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, go step 8 .
- Replace EBTCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE/TRACTION CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair short to ground in Red wire between underhood electrical center and EBTCM. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Replace ABSTRNS fuse. Cycle ignition switch from OFF to ON position, engine off. Recheck fuse. If fuse is okay, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If fuse is not okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove ABSTRNS fuse. Disconnect EBTCM connector. Connect universal pinout box (J 39700) using cable adapter (J 39700-25) to EBTCM harness connector only. Using DVOM, measure resistance between EBTCM connector terminals "A" and "B". If resistance is infinite, go to step 7 . If resistance is not infinite, go to next step.
- Repair short to ground in Brown wire between underhood electrical center and EBTCM. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Install fuses if removed. Turn ignition switch to ON position, engine off. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ABSTRNS fuse ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, see appropriate diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ABS/RTD ELEC fuse ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, see appropriate diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect EBTCM connector. Connect universal pinout box using cable adapter to EBTCM harness connector only. Using DVOM, measure resistance between EBTCM connector terminal "B" and ground. If resistance is 0-5 ohms, go to step 16 . If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair open or high resistance in Black wire between EBTCM and ground. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position, engine off. Using DVOM, measure voltage between EBTCM connector terminals "A" and "B". If battery voltage is present, go to step 18 . If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
- Repair open in Brown wire between underhood electrical center and EBTCM. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between EBTCM connector terminals "D" and "B". If battery voltage is present, go to step 20 . If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
- Repair open in Red wire between underhood electrical center and EBTCM. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove bus bar from star connector 1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between star connector 1 terminal "E" (Light Blue wire) and EBTCM connector terminal No. 10. If resistance is 0-5 ohms, go to step 7 . If resistance is not 0-5 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair open or high resistance in Light Blue wire between star connector 1 and EBTCM. After repairs, perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
