Content Theft Deterrent System
The BCM monitors several inputs in order to arm and disarm CTD system. BCM controls alarm function outputs. When BCM detects an unauthorized entry, BCM applies ground to horn, parking light and headlight relays. BCM applies ground once per second for about 2 minutes, or until a valid input to disarm system is received. BCM will send messages to SECURITY indicator light in instrument cluster through class 2 serial data link. BCM has 9 basic modes for operating CTD system:
- Off State
CTD system will be in off state when ignition switch is in RUN position and all doors are closed. SECURITY indicator light remains off. - Idle State
CTD system will be in idle state when ignition switch is in RUN position and any door is open. SECURITY indicator light remains off. - Disarmed State
CTD system will be in disarmed state when ignition switch is in LOCK position and all doors are closed. SECURITY indicator light remains off. - Ready-To-Arm State
CTD system will be in ready-to-arm state when ignition switch is in LOCK position and any door opens. SECURITY indicator light will flash. - Arm Initiated State
CTD system will be in arm initiated state when ignition switch is in LOCK position, any door opens and BCM detects a lock command from either the power door lock switch or remote control door lock receiver. SECURITY indicator light remains on. - Arm Delay State
CTD system will enter arm delay state when ignition switch is in LOCK position, BCM receives LOCK command from either the power door lock switch or remote control door lock receiver and all doors are closed. SECURITY indicator light remains on for 15 seconds. - Armed State
CTD system will enter armed state after a 15-second delay of arm delay state, unless BCM detects any door opening within that time. BCM monitors inputs in order to determine whether to activate alarm or to disarm system. SECURITY indicator light remains off. - Alarm State
CTD system will enter alarm state from armed state if any door opens. Horns and exterior lights will alternate on and off for about 2 minutes or until an unlock command is received. If BCM does not receive an unlock command, CTD system will return to armed state. SECURITY indicator light remains off. CDT system will change from alarm state to off state if Vehicle Control Module (VCM)/Powertrain Control Module (PCM) receives a valid Passlock™ ignition key rotation. - Remote Panic Alarm/Vehicle Locator State
CTD system will enter remote panic alarm/vehicle locator state when PANIC button on key fob is pressed. Remote control door lock receiver sends a message to BCM. BCM will sound horns and flash headlights and parking lights. Remote panic alarm/vehicle locator state can be disabled by pressing PANIC button on key fob again or system will time out after 30 seconds.
