Diagnostic System Check
NOTE:
For circuit reference, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Install scan tool. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, diagnose data link communications. See DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication with EBCM, VCM, instrument panel cluster and BCM. If scan tool communicates with all of the control modules, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with any of the control modules, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYMPTOM TESTS.
- Using scan tool, display DTCs for EBCM, VCM and instrument panel cluster. If scan tool displays any related DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any related DTCs, see SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .
- If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with a "U" type DTC, DTC C0292 or DTC C0297, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYMPTOM TESTS. If any other DTCs are set, go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC P0500, P0562, P0563, P0601, P0602, P0603, P0604, P0605, P1621 or P1381, diagnose affected DTC(s). Go to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If DTC B1367 is set, diagnose affected DTC. Go to appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
