Charge Indicator Light Never On

  1. Disconnect generator wire connector. Turn ignition on. Connect fused jumper wire between generator harness connector terminal "B" (A13VI) or terminal "L" (CS144) and ground. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to step 8). If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect PCM Clear 80-pin connector C2. Connect fused jumper wire between PCM harness connector C2, terminal No. 61 (Red wire) and ground. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to step 11). If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  3. Check connections and Red wire between generator harness connector terminal "B" (A13VI) or terminal "L" (CS144) and PCM connector C2, terminal No. 61. If connections and circuit are okay, go to step 5). If connection is poor or open, go to next step.
  4. Repair poor or open connection. Recheck system.
  5. Check connections and Pink wire between instrument cluster Natural 18-pin harness connector C1, terminal "M" and "I" and IGN 1 fuse (10-amp) in fuse block. If connections and circuit are okay, go to step 7). If connection is poor or open, go to next step.
  6. Repair poor or open connection. Recheck system.
  7. Check charge indicator light bulb. If bulb is okay, go to step 15). If bulb is faulty, go to step 14).
  8. Check connections at generator harness connector terminal "B" (A13VI) or terminal "L" (CS144). If connection is okay, go to step 10). If connection is poor or open, go to next step.
  9. Repair poor or open connection. Recheck system.
  10. Replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
  11. Check connections and Red wire between generator harness connector terminal "B" (A13VI) or terminal "L" (CS144) and PCM connector C2, terminal No. 61. If connections and circuit are okay, go to step 13). If connection is poor or open, go to next step.
  12. Repair poor or open connection. Recheck system.
  13. Replace PCM. See REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Recheck system. Recheck system.
  14. Replace charge indicator light bulb or repair circuit as needed. Recheck system.
  15. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Recheck system.
