Test No. 2
- Enter Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostics. See procedures in BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If any BCM codes are present, repair as necessary. If no BCM codes are present, go to next step.
- Remove key from ignition. Close all vehicle doors. While observing door locks, depress LOCK then UNLOCK on both driver and passenger door lock switches. If all doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch, go to next step. If all doors do not lock and unlock when using either door lock switch, see appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article for diagnostic information.
- Resynchronize transmitters. See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION under PROGRAMMING - PROCEDURES. Ensure ignition key is removed from lock cylinder. Disable Power Sliding Door (PSD) lock-out switch located in overhead console. Close all vehicle doors. While observing door locks, depress LOCK button once on transmitter, then depress UNLOCK button twice. While observing PSD, depress PSD open/close button once (if equipped). While observing exterior lights and horn, depress alarm button (if equipped) on transmitter. If keyless entry system operates door locks, PSD and alarm, go to step 10). If keyless entry system does not operate door locks, PSD and alarm, go to next step.
- Remove transmitter battery. Using DVOM, measure voltage on each transmitter battery. If voltage is 3-3.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 3-3.5 volts, go to step 12).
- Reprogram all transmitters. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING - PROCEDURES. Ensure ignition key is removed from lock cylinder. Close all vehicle doors. While observing door locks, depress LOCK button once on transmitter, then depress UNLOCK button twice. While observing PSD, depress PSD open/close button once (if equipped). While observing exterior lights and horn, depress alarm button on transmitter. If keyless entry system operates door locks, PSD and alarm (if equipped), go to step 18). If keyless entry system does not operate door locks, PSD and alarm (if equipped), go to next step.
- Program known-good transmitter. If keyless entry system operates door locks, PSD and alarm (if equipped), go to step 13). If keyless entry system does not operate door locks, PSD and alarm (if equipped), go to next step.
- Check RADIO (10-amp) fuse located in underhood accessory wiring junction block. If RADIO fuse is open, go to next step. If RADIO fuse is not open, go to step 9).
- Replace RADIO (10-amp) fuse. Recheck RADIO fuse. If fuse is open again, go to step 14). If fuse is not open, go to next step.
- Disconnect RCDLR Black 8-pin connector. Connect test light between RCDLR harness connector terminals "A" (Black wire) and "C" (Orange wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 15). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 11).
- Keyless entry system is okay. Go to step 18).
- Connect test light between ground and RCDLR harness connector terminal "C" (Orange wire). If test light illuminates, go to step 16). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 17).
- Replace transmitter batteries. Go to step 3). 13 Replace defective transmitter. Go to step 5).
- Repair short to ground in Orange wire between fuse block and remote control door lock receiver. Go to step 5).
- Check for poor contact at RCDLR connector. If connector contact is okay, replace RCDLR. Go to step 5).
- Repair open circuit in Black wire between RCDLR and ground. Go to step 5).
- Repair open circuit in Orange wire between fuse block and RCDLR. Go to step 5).
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall connectors and components removed. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 6 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove BCM PRGRM fuse. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. BCM sounds chime a number of times equivalent to BCM type installed. Within one second, turn ignition switch to LOCK position, then back to ACC position. BCM may sound and store DTCs. If no BCM DTCs are present, system is okay. If BCM DTCs are present, see BODY CONTROL MODULE article.
