Test No. 1

  1. Enter Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostics. See procedures in BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If any BCM codes are present, repair as necessary. If no BCM codes are present, go to next step.
  2. Remove key from ignition lock cylinder. Close all vehicle doors. While observing door locks, depress LOCK then UNLOCK on both driver and passenger door lock switches. If all doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch, go to next step. If all doors do not lock and unlock when using either door lock switch, see POWER DOOR LOCKS article for diagnostic information.
  3. Disconnect remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) Black, 8-pin connector. Disconnect BCM Blue, 32-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Black/White wire between BCM harness connector C2 terminal C8 and RCDLR harness connector terminal "E". If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 2 ohms, go to step 5).
  4. Replace RCDLR. Reconnect BCM connector C2. Reprogram all transmitters. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING - PROCEDURES. Ensure key is out of ignition and all doors are closed. Verify system operation. If remote keyless entry system operated correctly, system is okay. If remote keyless entry system did not operate correctly. go to step 6).
  5. Repair open circuit in Black/White wire between RCDLR and BCM. Go to step 7).
  6. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE article.
  7. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall connectors and components removed. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 6 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove BCM PRGRM fuse. Turn Ignition switch to ACC position. BCM sounds chime a number of times equivalent to BCM type installed. Within one second, turn ignition switch to LOCK position, then back to ACC position. BCM may sound and DTCs stored. If no BCM DTCs are present, system is okay. If BCM DTCs are present, see BODY CONTROL MODULE article.
