DTC 7: Horn Relay Control Circuit (Short To Battery Or Ground): Description
Body Control Module (BCM) type 4 (BCM-4) controls exterior lights and horn based on message received from Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) to perform alarm mode or BCM detects a theft attempt when content theft deterrent is in armed or warning mode. BCM interfaces with horn through horn relay. Horn relay allows BCM to turn on horn. BCM energizes horn relay by grounding circuit No. 28 (Black wire) during armed mode, warning mode and alarm mode.
DTC 7 will set when BCM detects a short to battery or ground in circuit No. 28 (Black wire). If circuit No. 28 is shorted to battery, BCM will not sound horn during armed, warning and alarm modes. If circuit No. 28 is shorted to ground, horn will sound at all times. To clear DTC 7, see CLEARING DTCS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
