DTC 6: Theft Deterrent Relay Control Circuit (Short To Battery Or Ground): Description

Body Control Module (BCM) type 4 (BCM-4) controls exterior lights and horn based on message received from Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) to perform alarm mode or BCM detects a theft attempt when content theft deterrent is in armed or warning mode. BCM interfaces with exterior lights through theft deterrent relay. Theft deterrent relay allows BCM to turn on exterior lights. BCM energizes theft deterrent relay by grounding circuit No. 301 (Brown/White wire) during armed mode, warning mode and alarm mode.

DTC 6 will set when BCM detects a short to battery or ground in circuit No. 301 (Brown/White wire). BCM will not turn on exterior lights during armed, warning and alarm modes. If circuit No. 301 is shorted to ground, exterior lights will stay on at all times. To clear DTC 6, see CLEARING DTCS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.

NOTE: If DTC 6 is intermittent, wiggle wires while performing the following test.
