Diagnostic Test
- If powertrain OBD system check has been performed, go to next step. If powertrain OBD system check has not been performed, perform powertrain OBD system check. See POWERTRAIN OBD SYSTEM CHECK
.
- Start engine and let run for at least one minute. Use scan tool to store freeze frame data. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait at least one minute. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If freeze frame data was not retained, go to next step. If freeze frame data was retained, check the following and repair as necessary:
- Blown fuses.
- Connection at PCM.
- Damaged wiring harness.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect PCM harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at memory power circuit (White wire) at PCM harness connector. If battery voltage does not exists, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step 5).
- Repair for open or short in memory power circuit (White wire), between PCM and battery. After repairs are complete, go to step 7).
- Check for poor connection at PCM harness connector. If poor connection does not exist, go to next step. If poor connection exists, repair as necessary and go to step 7).
- Replace PCM and go to next step.
- Test drive vehicle under conditions that set the DTC. Check for other DTCs. If DTCs were retrieved, perform appropriate DTC test. If no DTCs were retrieved, system is okay at this time.
