Circuit Description

VSS is part of instrument cluster. PCM applies 5 volts to VSS. VSS incorporates a reed switch that opens and closes 4 times per revolution of speedometer cable. VSS signal voltage at PCM toggles high and low when reed switch opens and closes. PCM converts toggled voltage into vehicle speed reading, displayed in MPH.
